French toast is such an easy and tasty breakfast or dessert. I think I’ve already shared both a super fattening version (Banana French Toast with Choc Sauce) as well as a healthier one with oats (Banana Oats French Toast), so we should at least cover the original one too. This recipe creates a slightly crispy Toast on the top and gooey in the middle. It’s great on its own but today I served it with Trader Joe’s Fudge Sauce and sliced Bananas.
Serves: 2 people
4 slices thick bread
1/3 cup milk, room temperature
2 tablespoon flour
3 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- In a shallow bowl, whisk flour into the milk until it’s fully dissolved, ensuring there are no lumps. Add the remaining ingredients and whisk thoroughly.
- Heat a fry / flat pan with a knob of butter.
- One slice at a time, dip the bread into the milk mixture on both sides, pressing gently down with a fork to absorb the liquid. Then place into the pan and fry until golden brown on the both sides.
- Serve with fruit of choice, and fudge or maple syrup.
